NATIONALAmerica can increase tariff on Chinese goods to 80 percent, President Trump hints

Just before the talks with China on import duty, US President Donald Trump has indicated to reduce the tariff. Currently, 145 percent tariff is levied on goods coming to America from China, but Trump has indicated to reduce it to 80 percent.

On the internet media site Truth Social, Trump said, 80 percent tariff on Chinese goods seems fine. But the final decision in this regard will be taken by Finance Minister Scott Besant. In another post, Trump said, China should also open its market for America, it will be good for them. Good trade cannot be done by closing the market for the products of other countries.

Trump’s posts were made public ahead of Finance Minister Besant and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer’s talks with China’s Vice Premier He Le Feng in Geneva on Saturday. It is known that in response to America’s 145 percent tariff, China has imposed 125 percent duty on its goods. While America is the country with the largest economy in the world, China ranks second in terms of economy.
