Corona infection cases have started increasing again in many parts of the country. No local case has been reported in Uttarakhand yet, but infection has been confirmed in two people who came from other states. After this, the health department has increased vigilance.
According to Director General of Health Dr. Sunita Tamta, a 57-year-old woman who came to Rishikesh from Gujarat has tested positive for corona. She is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Rishikesh. The woman also has other health problems including diabetes. Apart from this, a female doctor from AIIMS has recently returned from Bengaluru. Corona has been confirmed in her too. The female doctor is in home isolation.
Dr Tamta said that there are no local cases in the state right now, but as a precaution, all chief medical officers have been instructed to increase sampling. If any patient is found corona positive, genome sequencing of the sample will also be done. So that the new variant can be identified in time. Instructions have also been given to the officials to ensure availability of medical staff, adequate arrangements for oxygen, medicines and equipment.
