Anger in India over Turkye, IndiGo is using two planes of Turkish Airlines

POLITICS & LAWSAnger in India over Turkye, IndiGo is using two planes of Turkish Airlines

There is anger in the country against Turkey for supporting Pakistan. Earlier, the government had cancelled the security clearance for Turkish company Celebi Airport Services India Private Limited. Now DGCA has asked Indigo to end dump leasing with Turkish Airlines within 3 months.

Actually, IndiGo operates two Boeing 777 aircraft of Turkiye Airlines on dump lease. These are B777-300 ER aircraft. This dump lease of IndiGo was to expire on 31 May, but the airline had sought a 6-month extension from the government.

DGCA rejected IndiGo’s demand. However, keeping in mind that passengers should not face any inconvenience, IndiGo has been given an extension of 3 months. This extension will be valid till 31st August. After this, IndiGo will have to break its agreement.

IndiGo had argued that the expiry of dump lease on 31 May would cause disruption in flights and this would affect passengers. Keeping this in mind, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has given an extension of 3 months.
