Tesla owner and former DOGE chief Elon Musk is often accused of taking drugs. A report in the American newspaper New York Times has accused him of regularly consuming drugs such as ketamine, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms while he was the head of the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) in the Donald Trump administration. However, Elon Musk has termed these allegations as baseless.
On Saturday, Musk tweeted on his social media handle X: Let me be clear: I am not taking drugs! The New York Times is lying! He added, “I used ‘prescription’ ketamine a few years ago and said the same thing on X, so it’s nothing new. It does help get out of dark mental pits, but I haven’t taken it since.”
On Friday, when a reporter asked Trump if he knew about Musk’s “regular drug use”, Trump replied “I didn’t know.” He added, “I think Elon’s a wonderful person.” Musk has previously admitted to taking ketamine, saying he was prescribed the drug to treat “negative thinking” and suggesting the drug helped his work.
