Political uproar over the letter written by Nehru; Nishikant Dubey lashed out at Congress

NATIONALPolitical uproar over the letter written by Nehru; Nishikant Dubey lashed out at Congress

After opposition Congress criticised External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s remarks about “informing Pakistan about Operation Sindoor”, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has stepped up his attack on the foreign policy record of previous Congress-led Central governments.

BJP leader Dubey, known for his aggressive political style, has once again resorted to history to launch a scathing attack on the Congress. He shared another ‘declassified’ letter written by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to the then US President during the war with China in 1962.

The letter was written on November 16, 1962, which, according to Dubey, was later shared by the US with Pakistan. He is presenting it as evidence of the Congress leadership’s weak approach to international diplomacy. BJP leader Dubey sarcastically said in his post, “Read the excellent foreign policy of the great Nehru ji carefully. Everything was written in it. Nehru had written in the letter that Pakistan is a brother, a friend, a good neighbor, we will make an agreement with them.”

He shared an excerpt from Nehru’s letter, which read, “The idea of any conflict with Pakistan is unpleasant to us and we would never initiate it on our part I believe that the future of India and Pakistan lies in their friendship and cooperation, which is for the benefit of both.” The US shared this letter with the then Pakistani military ruler Ayub Khan.
