‘China cannot stop the water of Brahmaputra river even if it wants to’, Assam CM’s retort to Pakistan’s threat

NATIONAL'China cannot stop the water of Brahmaputra river even if it wants to', Assam CM's retort to Pakistan's threat

After the Pahalgam attack, when India stopped the water of the Indus river, Pakistan also threatened India. Pakistan said that China can also stop the water of the Brahmaputra river, which will lead to drought in the north-eastern states of India. At the same time, now Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has given a befitting reply to Pakistan.

Pakistan believes that India depends on the water of the Brahmaputra river coming from China. However, Himanta Biswa Sarma has completely rejected these claims of the neighboring country. According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Brahmaputra river brings only 30-35 percent of its water from China. The Brahmaputra river gets this water from melting Himalayan glaciers and rain. The remaining 65-70 percent of the river’s water comes from rivers flowing in India and rain.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said- Ever since India has cancelled the Indus River Treaty, Pakistan has been trying to spread fear in the country. Pakistan says what if China gives Brahmaputra? In reality, the water of the Brahmaputra River rises in India only. China contributes only 30-35 percent of the water flow of the Brahmaputra River and the remaining 65-70 percent of the water reaches the river in India itself.
