Famous voice actor Jonathan Jose was shot and killed on Sunday night in San Antonio, Texas. Jonathan, 59, was known for voicing John Redcorn in ‘King of the Hill’. Police have arrested their neighbour, 56-year-old Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, who has been charged with murder. Jonathan’s husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, confirmed the incident and called it a hate-motivated attack.
According to San Antonio police, they received information about a shooting at Jonathan’s house around 7 pm on Sunday night. When the police reached the spot, Jonathan was lying injured near the road. The police tried to save his life, but he was declared dead when the ambulance arrived.
Tristan said he and Jonathan went to check the mail at their old house, which was destroyed by a fire in January. Their three pet dogs died in the fire, and they found a dog’s skull and harness, which made them both emotional. Then a man yelled homophobic slurs at him and opened fire. According to Tristan, Jonathan saved his life by pushing him away.
Tristan wrote on Facebook that the attack was motivated by homophobia and that they had previously received threats from neighbors. However, San Antonio police said their investigation had not yet found any evidence that the murder was linked to Jonathan’s sexual identity.
