Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Prime Minister’s Office’s official X handle posted, “The accident in Bengaluru is very sad. In this sad moment, my condolences are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured recover soon.
Siddaramaiah also confirmed that 11 people died and 33 were injured in the incident. The CM announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased. Giving information about this incident, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said, “We are deeply shocked to hear the news of several people being killed and several being seriously injured in the stampede during the RCB team’s victory celebrations at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The pain of this tragedy has overshadowed the joy of victory. May the souls of the dead rest in peace and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured and those being treated in the hospital.”He further wrote, “My condolences are with the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones. The team was not allowed to march in the Vijay Parade due to the fear of such stampede and untoward incident due to uncontrollable crowd.
However, the accident happened due to a stampede caused by the crowd of people near the stadium. I appeal to the public to understand that life is more important than love and affection and give first priority to safety.”
