INTERNATIONALFormer Nepal Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal in trouble

Nepal’s former Prime Minister and CPN-Unified Socialist President Madhav Kumar Nepal has been charged by the anti-corruption agency in a land embezzlement case. The investigation commission CIAA on Thursday filed a case in a special court against Madhav Nepal and 92 others for their alleged involvement in a land embezzlement case, reports Kathmandu Post.

The accused were involved in approving land ceiling exemption for a non-profit organisation in 2010. This non-profit organisation was involved in acquiring land beyond the legally permitted limit at several places in Nepal.

The agency has sought jail term and fine under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act along with recovery of Nepalese Rupees 18.585 crore from the accused. Madhav Nepal denied the corruption charges against him and said that he has not done anything wrong and is ready to face the legal process.
