SPORTS & BUSINESSDjokovic's dream of winning 25th Grand Slam shattered: Sinner defeated him in French Open semi-final

Serbia’s star tennis player Novak Djokovic is out of the French Open 2025. With this, his dream of winning his 25th Grand Slam title is also shattered. He lost to Italy’s Jannik Sinner 6-4, 7-5, 7-6 (3) in the semi-finals. World number-1 Sinner won this match against sixth seed Djokovic in 3 hours and 16 minutes.

Earlier, 38-year-old Djokovic defeated Britain’s Cameron Norrie to register his 100th win at the French Open, becoming the second player after Rafael Nadal to do so. 23-year-old Jannik Sinner will face world number-2 player Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the final on Sunday (8 June). In the first semi-final, Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti left the match against Carlos Alcaraz midway.

Alcaraz was leading 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0, 2-0 when eighth seed Musetti decided to withdraw from the match. Novak Djokovic has won 24 Grand Slam titles so far. He has won 10 Australian Open, 3 French Open, 7 Wimbledon and 4 US Open titles. He has been World No. 1 many times and has also set the record for staying at the top ranking for the most number of weeks.

Rafael Nadal, known as the King of Red Gravel, has won the French Open title a record 14 times. Nadal has participated in the French Open 18 times and has won 112 matches and has faced defeat only four times which is a world record in the men’s and women’s category in any one Grand Slam.
