A London-bound plane crashed to the ground soon after it took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The plane turned into a fireball and within a few moments everything was reduced to ashes. The entire city was covered in a cloud of smoke.
There were 242 passengers on board the Ahmedabad-London Air India flight, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, of which 169 were Indians, 73 Britons, seven Portuguese and one Canadian citizen. All 241, including former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, have died, while only one passenger survived safely.
Air India’s Boeing-787 Dreamliner plane took off from the runway at 1:38 pm on Thursday afternoon in Ahmedabad. It crashed as soon as it took off. The building into which the plane crashed houses doctors of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
