Israeli attacks have once again shaken Iran. Iranian state media has confirmed that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence chief Brigadier General Mohammad Kazemi and his deputy Hassan Mohaqiq were killed in an Israeli attack.
Tasnim News, Iran’s state-run news agency affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, said a third IRGC intelligence officer, Mohsen Bagheri, was also killed in the attack in Tehran. Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was moved to an underground bunker in Lavizan, north-east of Tehran, just hours after the Israeli attacks began on Friday.
Khamenei is present in this bunker with his entire family. According to the Times of Israel, Khamenei also took refuge in this bunker during Iran’s attacks on Israel in April 2024 and October. According to reports, Israel did not target Khamenei on the first night of the operation to give him a last chance to completely abandon his uranium enrichment plan. This information has been given by the Times of Israel quoting its sources.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said it carried out large-scale airstrikes targeting weapons manufacturing facilities in Iran. The attacks damaged the IRGC, its Quds Force and the Iranian military infrastructure. The IDF said, “Several weapons manufacturing factories in Iran were targeted.”
