India has already given many big blows to Pakistan. There is an uproar in Pakistan due to the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. Meanwhile, India is going to take a big decision. Actually, the central government has started working on a big plan. Under this, a 113 km long canal will be built to transport surplus water of Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. With the help of this canal, the water flowing towards Pakistan will be stopped.
India will directly benefit from the construction of this new canal. On the other hand, Pakistan will have to crave for every drop of water. According to a report, under this scheme, India’s share in the western rivers of the Indus River System (Indus, Jhelum and Chenab) can be fully utilized. At the same time, the water of Ravi, Beas and Sutlej rivers can also be fully utilized.
After completion of this project, all excess water flow which was till now going towards Pakistan will be stopped. Let us tell you that Home Minister Amit Shah had hinted about this plan on Saturday. He said that in the coming three years, Indus water will be transported to Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan. Shah had clearly said that after this scheme, ‘Pakistan will have to crave for every drop of water’, whereas Indian farmers will get abundant irrigation facilities.
Sources said that there is a proposal to connect this project to Yamuna in future. If this happens, its length will be more than 200 kilometers. After this, water can also be transported to Gangasagar through Yamuna.
