On June 22, the FAA grounded all flights at New York’s LaGuardia Airport due to a severe storm and lightning. Low visibility and turbulence prevented takeoffs and landings at this busy US airport – leaving thousands of passengers stranded. From families going on vacation to business travelers, everyone faced huge problems. This wave of flight delays spread to other cities like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago. Crowds inside the terminal, gate changes and poor facilities made the situation worse.
This isn’t the first time — similar technical and staffing failures have occurred at Newark and Atlanta airports in May and June. Travelers are advised to keep checking flight updates and keep flexible travel options ready, as this travel chaos has become commonplace.
