The world’s richest man and Tesla-SpaceX owner Elon Musk has once again sharply criticized US President Donald Trump’s massive tax cut and spending bill (Big Beautiful Bill). Musk said in clear words that the MPs who support this bill will face defeat in the primary elections next year. Musk called this bill crazy and destructive and called it dangerous for the country.
On Saturday, while the bill was being discussed in the Senate, Musk expressed his displeasure on the social media platform X. He further intensified his criticism on Monday, saying lawmakers who had promised to reduce government spending but supported the bill should feel ashamed. Musk angrily said, “These lawmakers will be defeated in the primaries next year, even if I have to fight for it till my last breath.” He also opposed this bill
He called the bill so expensive that he dubbed it the “Porky Pig Party” bill, a term used to describe wasteful spending. Emphasizing the need for a new political party, Musk wrote, “Now is the time to form a party that actually cares about the people.” Musk’s anger is a reflection of the sourness in his relationship with Trump. Musk had spent about $300 million for Trump’s presidential election He was also the head of the Trump administration’s controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In this department, Musk was in charge of cutting government expenditure.
Musk says that this bill will further increase the national debt and will wipe out all his savings made through DOGE. However, it is not clear how much impact Musk’s words will have on the US Congress or how much of an obstacle it will create in the way of passing the bill. But the Republican Party fears that this conflict between Musk and Trump could become an obstacle in their path to majority in the 2026 midterm elections.
