TACOMA, WA — October 30, 2025: The City of Tacoma is gearing up for a historic milestone as the Tacoma Historical Society joined the Tacoma City Council on October 28 to accept an official proclamation declaring November 12, 2025, as Tacoma’s Sesquicentennial Birthday.
The proclamation recognizes Tacoma’s 150 years of growth — from its beginnings as a small mill town on the Puget Sound to its present-day status as a thriving hub of arts, culture, and industry.
Sesquicentennial Celebration Dinner
To mark the occasion, the Tacoma Historical Society will host a special anniversary dinner on November 12, 2025, at 6 p.m. The event will highlight Tacoma’s rich heritage, honoring the people, communities, and industries that have shaped the city over the past century and a half.
