Renton, WA — October 30, 2025:
After more than three decades, justice has been delivered in one of Renton’s most tragic and long-standing cold cases. A King County jury has convicted 55-year-old Jerome Frank Jones for the 1994 murders of Stacy Ann Falcon-Dewey, 23, and her three-year-old son, Jacob.
The victims were found by Renton Police on October 28, 1994, on a dead-end road in south Renton. For years, the case remained unsolved—until recent breakthroughs in DNA technology allowed investigators to link Jones, who was already serving time in California for an unrelated murder, to the Renton homicides.
“After over 30 years, justice has finally been served for Stacy, Jacob, and their family,” said Renton Police Chief Jon Schuldt. “Over the years, 50 different detectives have worked tirelessly to reach this moment. We hope the Falcon and Dewey families find some comfort in knowing we never gave up.”
Authorities credited the conviction to advances in forensic science and the persistence of generations of investigators who refused to let the case go cold.
Jones is scheduled to be sentenced on December 12 for two counts of Aggravated First-Degree Murder with deadly weapon enhancements.
This verdict marks a significant milestone for the Renton Police Department’s Cold Case Unit, demonstrating the continued importance of evolving DNA technology in delivering long-overdue justice.
