Over 30 Immigrants Reportedly Detained by ICE in Woodburn

USAOver 30 Immigrants Reportedly Detained by ICE in Woodburn

WOODBURN, Ore. (KPTV) — More than 30 immigrants were detained by federal agents in Woodburn on Thursday, according to Oregon for All, a coalition of over 100 advocacy groups. The organization claims at least 200 immigrant Oregonians have been arrested since Oct. 15, many allegedly without warrants or access to attorneys.

Reyna Lopez of PCUN, a farmworkers union, said those detained were mostly workers heading to their jobs or schools early in the morning. Lawmakers Lesly Muñoz and Ben Bowman condemned the alleged raids, noting that none of those detained appeared to pose a public safety threat.

The Woodburn School District reassured families it would uphold Oregon’s sanctuary laws and provided legal resources. Advocacy groups Innovation Law Lab and Clear Clinic filed petitions challenging several detentions, while PCUN continues monitoring ICE activity through trained community verifiers.

Local law enforcement agencies said they were not involved, and ICE has not yet responded to requests for comment.
