USAMan Arrested With Fentanyl After High-Speed Pursuit in Stolen Truck Tracked by Helicopter

Seattle, WA — Seattle police arrested a 31-year-old convicted felon Tuesday afternoon after he fled officers in a stolen truck, triggering an air-assisted pursuit through North Seattle and Ballard.

The incident began on November 18 around 2:00 p.m., when patrol officers using an Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) located a stolen Ford F-150 near Meridian Avenue North and North Northgate Way.

The King County Sheriff’s Guardian One helicopter quickly responded, providing aerial surveillance as officers attempted multiple traffic stops. The driver refused to pull over, speeding through residential neighborhoods. According to police, “The vehicle eluded recklessly, driving away at high speed in a crowded residential area.”

During the pursuit, the passenger jumped out and attempted to flee on foot. With direction from Guardian One, officers apprehended him, later interviewing and releasing him.

The helicopter maintained visual contact with the stolen truck as it traveled across the city. The driver eventually pulled into the Goodwill parking lot in Ballard, ran inside, and changed clothes in an attempt to hide from police.

Officers moved in minutes later, arresting him inside the store with assistance from Goodwill security personnel.

A search of the suspect uncovered 25.9 grams of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. Officers also recovered the stolen truck, which contained burglary and auto-theft tools, including a lock-picking kit. The vehicle was impounded.

The driver — a multi-convicted felon with previous offenses involving firearms, stolen property, and theft — is currently on active Department of Corrections supervision for robbery, and prohibited from engaging in criminal activity as a condition of release.

He was booked into King County Jail for:

  • Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

  • Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics

Detectives from the General Investigations Unit are now handling the case.
