Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has made a big announcement regarding toll tax. In a post on X, he introduced a Fastag-based annual pass worth Rs 3,000, which will be effective from August 15, 2025.

The latest Fastag pass will be valid for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever is earlier, from the date of activation for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans. It aims to reduce toll-related complaints, Especially for commuters living near toll plazas within a radius of 60 kilometers.

The annual pass will be available on the Highway Travel mobile application and the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). A dedicated link for activation and renewal will be released before the launch.

According to Nitin Gadkari, this new system aims to simplify toll payments by allowing users to make a single, advance transaction for the entire year. The policy also addresses long-standing public concerns over frequent toll deductions during short-distance travel.
