Renton, WA — September 21, 2025
A 25-year-old man surrendered to Renton Police late Thursday in connection with a violent hate crime assault on a 39-year-old transgender woman. Police confirmed the suspect turned himself in after a family member recognized his photo on the Crimestoppers website and urged him to come forward. He was booked on charges of Assault and Hate Crime.
The attack occurred in the 200 block of Burnett Ave S, where investigators say four suspects assaulted the victim while making homophobic slurs.
Two suspects, ages 15 and 17, were arrested on the night of the attack and are scheduled to face charges today. A third suspect, a 16-year-old, was arrested Thursday afternoon and will appear before a judge to determine whether sufficient evidence supports charges and whether he will remain in detention.
The Renton Police Department emphasized their commitment to investigating hate crimes, ensuring community safety, and supporting victims of bias-motivated violence.
