USATukwila Police and Valley SWAT Safely Take Armed Domestic Violence Suspect Into Custody

TUKWILA, Wash. — A tense domestic violence situation in Tukwila ended safely after officers and Valley SWAT took an armed suspect into custody early Saturday morning, according to the Tukwila Police Department.

At around 3:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a domestic violence incident in the 4200 block of Southcenter Boulevard. Upon arrival, police located a female victim outside the home suffering from injuries sustained in the assault. The woman was treated at the scene by the Tukwila Fire Department and later transported to a nearby hospital.

Authorities reported that the male suspect was armed with a firearm and had barricaded himself inside the residence along with an 8-year-old child who was unable to escape.

Police quickly established a perimeter while Valley SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Teams responded to safely extract the child and negotiate the suspect’s surrender. After several hours of communication, the suspect exited the home around 7 a.m. and was taken into custody without further incident. The child was found unharmed and reunited with family members.

The suspect now faces a felony charge of Assault in the Second Degree – Domestic Violence.

Tukwila Police expressed gratitude to their partner agencies — including the Port of Seattle Police Department, Federal Way Police Department, and Auburn Police Department — for their assistance in resolving the incident safely.
