Seattle, WA — October 23, 2025:
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has confirmed that the University Bridge has officially reopened to traffic as of 1:35 PM on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
The reopening follows a temporary closure earlier in the day due to routine maintenance work and safety inspections. During the closure, SDOT crews conducted checks to ensure the bridge’s mechanical and structural systems were operating correctly.
The University Bridge, which connects Eastlake and the University District, is one of Seattle’s key north–south routes and a vital link for commuters, cyclists, and transit vehicles.
SDOT thanked the public for their patience and reminded drivers to continue using caution while crossing as normal traffic flow resumes.
