The American media has been criticizing President Donald Trump since the US attack on Iran’s nuclear sites. On this issue, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth launched a scathing attack on the media and accused the journalists of working against Trump. Along with this, he accused them of deliberately underestimating the success of the US attack on Iran.

“It’s in your DNA and blood to cheer against Donald Trump because you want him not to be so successful,” Hegseth said at a Pentagon press briefing with Gen. Dan. “You should be happy about the effectiveness of these attacks. You should hope that maybe they weren’t effective.” The remarks came in response to media reports earlier this week that cited a leaked assessment by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

Initial reports said the attacks caused damage but could delay Iran’s nuclear program for several months, a conclusion contrary to Trump’s claim that the sites had been destroyed. Although the Trump administration did not dispute the existence of the DIA report, it said it was based on preliminary data and called it a low-confidence assessment. Hegseth questioned the media’s motives for this.

“If you want to know what’s going on at Fordow, you better go there, and preferably with a big shovel,” Hegseth said, referring to one of the targeted Iranian nuclear sites.
