Residents across parts of western Washington woke up to below-freezing temperatures Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle. Forecasters reported widespread readings in the 20s and low 30s, with some areas experiencing chilly conditions just under 32°F.
The NWS advised anyone heading out early to dress warmly, recommending sweaters, jackets, hats, and gloves. In addition to the cold, thin mist and patchy fog were observed again this morning across portions of the South Sound.
Officials say temperatures are expected to gradually rise later in the day, but early-morning commuters should continue to use caution in fog-prone areas.
