Seattle, WA — The Seattle Public Library’s Douglass-Truth Branch will host a community celebration on Saturday, Dec. 13, marking the 50th anniversary of its historic renaming. The event will run from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to all ages.
The anniversary celebration will highlight the branch’s deep cultural roots and its long-standing significance to Seattle’s Central District community. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities throughout the afternoon, including a performance by the Garfield Jazz Quartet, guided history tours of the branch, and opportunities to learn about its renowned African American collection—one of the largest on the West Coast.
Refreshments will be provided, and visitors are invited to share their ideas and aspirations for what the next 50 years of the Douglass-Truth Branch could hold.
The event is free and requires no registration.
